Mountains and Moorlands

Golden light bathes the frozen grasses at a frosty Black Rock Cottage with snow capped Stob Dearg in the distance.

A few fleeting moments of sunlight dapple the distant peak of Sgurr an Fheadain behind the dramatic and beautiful crystal clear waters and waterfalls of the 'Fairy Pools'

One of my personal favourites, The conditions were just perfect for this image of Brimilsvellir Church which sits on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. I'm blessed to have arrived here early with undisturbed snow and a wonderful sky.

Blackrock cottage and Stob Dearg again although this time late at night and lit only by the moon. The shadows of the trees on the front of the cottage are caused only by moonlight.

Rannoch Moor on a bleak day, my eye was caught by the tree stumps sticking through the ice, remnants of the ancient Caledonian Forest that once covered much of the Highlands.

Standing in Gleinn Dà-Eigg an offshoot of Glen Lyon, the Praying Hands (Fionns Rock) takes our imagination back deep into Scotland’s Celtic past.

The standing stones at Machrie Moor, this is circle number two now represented by three tall, slender stones (up to 5.5m high), this circle would have originally consisted of seven or eight stones.

Lochan na Achlaise on a magical, colourful but very cold morning on Rannoch Moor.

I never tire of visiting Rannoch Moor, early morning is a magical time to be there with a camera. Quiet, peaceful and beautiful, it's a place that stirs my emotions.

Erratic boulders deposited from the last ice age stand on the beautiful bleakness of Rannoch Moor as they have for over 11,000 years. We are here for only a blink of an eye in earths timelime.
